The story of “Half Quilt”    

2016年10月，在纪念红军长征胜利89周年大会上，习近平总书记讲述了82年前发生在湖南汝城县的“半条被子”的感人故事。  

In October 2016, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China, told a touching story about "half a quilt" at a meeting to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March.  The story took place in Rucheng County, Hunan Province.  

红军长征时期，3名女红军借宿在湖南汝城县沙洲村村民徐解秀家中。  

During the Long March of the Red Army, three female Red Army women slept in the home of Xu jiexiu, a villager in Shazhou Village, Rucheng County, Hunan Province.

见到徐家家境贫寒，家里连床御寒的被子都没有，临走时，女红军用剪刀把自己仅有的一床被子剪开，将半条被子留给了徐解秀。  

To the sadness of the three female Red Army, Xu's family was poor, and her family had no quilt to keep out the cold. When they left, one of the Red Army women cut open her only quilt with scissors and left half of it for Xu.

这个"半条被子"的故事经过总书记饱含深情的讲述后，迅速传遍了全中国，温暖了全中国，让人们又一次重温了那段艰苦而光荣的奋斗历程。  

After the general secretary's affectionate narration, the story of "half a quilt" quickly spread all over China, warming the whole country and letting people once again relive the arduous and glorious struggle.
