Whenever Comes the Call from My Country, For Sure I Will Answer It    

孙家栋，87岁，中科院院士、探月工程总设计师。  

Sun Jiadong, 87 years old, is the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief designer of lunar exploration project.  

孙家栋的一生与中国航天的多个第一密切相连。2004年，我国正式启动探月工程。已是75岁高龄的孙家栋披挂上阵，亲自担任总设计师。探月工程风险很大，很多人替孙家栋捏了一把汗:工程一旦出现问题，已是“两弹一星”元勋的孙家栋的辉煌历史必会受到影响。  

Sun’s life is closely associated with many Firsts in China’s aerospace history. In 2004, China officially started the lunar exploration project. Sun Jiadong, 75 years old at that time, went into action and served as the chief designer. The lunar exploration project was so risky that many people paid attention for Sun Jiadong with deep concern: once the project get stuck, the glorious history of Sun Jiadong, who is already the father of “two bombs and one satellite”, will be affected.  

但孙家栋没有一丝犹豫，“国家需要，我就去做。”他说，“这是一个航天人最基本也是最重要的素质。”2007年11月26日，温家宝总理为“嫦娥一号”卫星传回的第幅月面图像揭幕时，来到孙家栋面前握着他的手亲切地说:“孙老，你是身经百战啊，你辛苦了!”  

But Sun Jiadong got into action with no hesitation. “Whenever comes the call from my country, for sure I will answer it.” He said, “This is the most basic and important quality of an aerospace researcher.” On November 26, 2007, when Premier Wen Jiabao unveiled the first lunar image sent back by Chang’e-1 satellite, he came to Sun Jiadong and held his hand and said cordially: “Mr.Sun, you have made many contributions. Thanks for your hard work!”
